Gain competitive pricing and budget certainty on the gasoline and diesel you use every day with TASB Energy Cooperative’s fuel program. Each year members purchase more than 15 million gallons of fuel through the Cooperative. Cooperative members participating in the fuel program have three purchasing options:
- Participate in the fixed-rate fuel program: Lock in fuel rates (unleaded gasoline and/or diesel) at a fixed rate for a specified period under a fuel purchase agreement with an awarded provider of the Cooperative. Purchasing fuel at a fixed rate decreases the effects of market volatility and assists with more accurate budgeting.
- Combine fixed-rate with spot purchases: Personalize your fuel purchases to your organization’s specific needs.
- Make spot purchases: Purchase rack-rate or OPIS-rate unleaded gasoline and diesel quickly and as needed by your organization.
Fuel Program Benefits
The TASB Energy Cooperative offers fuel options based on your preferences, needs, and value. By combining purchasing power, members may receive bulk rates based on current market prices for fuel.
- Competitive pricing: Cooperative members benefit from competitive pricing and value thanks to the combined purchasing power of local governments.
- Fixed-rate contracts: We work with awarded vendors to give members longer than industry standard length contracts.
- Market volatility protection: Unlike other fixed contracts that may be OPIS/Rack +, fixed-rate contracts through the Cooperative lock members in at one price no matter what the market does. Members pay the same price over the length of their contract, instead of the same coefficient +/- over the market price.
Fuel Pooling
The TASB Energy Cooperative's fuel pools provide an opportunity to leverage strength in numbers with one of the biggest aggregators of fuel in Texas. The volume of aggregation allows Cooperative awarded providers the ability to secure the best price available for participants.
The Cooperative awards provider contracts through an open, transparent, and competitive procurement process to help you stay compliant with local and state procurement requirements. Members of TASB Energy Cooperative with a signed Interlocal Participation Agreement (IPA) are eligible to participate in the fuel pool.
Since the TASB Energy Cooperative is board-governed, establishment of a fuel pool must be approved by the Board of Trustees each year.
